What is a barn dance?

A barn dance is a popular social event amongst students at the University of Illinois. Like the name implies, it is a dance, held in a barn.

What do I wear to a barn dance?

Typically, attire that can be considered country or western is appropriate. Denim is the norm, in the form of jeans, skirts, or jackets. For those wanting to be in the true barn dance spirit, cowboy hats or bandanas should be a part of the outfit.

What is there to do at a barn dance?

Obviously, dancing is a big part of the event, much like at any nightclub. The country atmosphere also includes a bonfire and hay rack rides.

What if I am not the partying type?

Have no fear; there will be plenty to do (see above). Plus, you can hang out with the conference board.

Will there be refreshments?

Yes, snacks and drinks will be catered.

How do I get to the barn dance?

The only way to the barn dance is via an ITASA-provided shuttle service. Yes, you really are going to a barn in the middle of nowhere.

Can non-conference attendees join the barn dance?

Yes, there will be a cover charged to those not part of the ITASA conference. Premium Plus registrants will get a reduced price.

What kind of music will be played?


Standard music that you would find in any club, ie. Hip-Hop. Have no fear, Barn RaZn will be like any afterset, just set in a barn.
