Getting to CampusDriving
from Highway 101
Take the Embarcadero Road exit west toward Stanford.
At El Camino Real, Embarcadero turns into Galvez Street as it enters the university.
Stay in the left lane and continue toward the center of campus.
There is metered parking in a lot on the right side Galvez Street, just past Memorial Way.
A few hundred feet beyond this lot, Galvez ends at Serra Street, where there is more metered parking.
from Highway 280
Exit 280 at Sand Hill Road, heading east.
Make a right turn on Santa Cruz Avenue, then a left turn onto Junipero Serra Boulevard.
Turn left at the second stoplight, Campus Drive East.
Continue around Campus Drive East and turn left when you reach Serra Street, at the gas station.
Follow Serra Street until it ends at Galvez Street.
Turn right onto Galvez and look for the first parking lot on your left, which has public, metered parking.
from El Camino Real
Exit El Camino Real at University Avenue.
Turn toward the hills (away from the center of Palo Alto).
As you enter Stanford, University Avenue becomes Palm Drive.
Go through one traffic light, and turn left onto Campus Drive at the first stop sign.
Turn right at Galvez Street, the next stop sign.
There is metered parking in the lot between Memorial Hall and the Economics building.

Altamont Commuter Express (ACE)
The ACE train runs daily between Stockton and San Jose with connections to the Diridon Caltrain station.

Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART)
BART connects with the Millbrae Caltrain station for seamless transfers from the South Bay to the rest of the Bay Area.

Caltrain
Caltrain is a commuter rail service that runs between Gilroy and San Francisco. The two closest stops to Stanford are the California Avenue station and Palo Alto station. The Marguerite meets almost every train at both those stations all day from 6:00 a.m. to 7:45 p.m.

Dumbarton Express
The Dumbarton Express runs weekdays from the Union City BART station across the Dumbarton Bridge to the Palo Alto Caltrain station.
This consolidated schedule includes BART train and Marguerite shuttle connections.
The Marguerite Shuttle
The Marguerite is Stanford's free public shuttle system. It is free and open to the public (no ID required).

SamTrans
SamTrans connects the Palo Alto Caltrain station (and the Marguerite shuttle service) to all of San Mateo County (north of campus).
- Route KX provides service to San Francisco International Airport and downtown San Francisco. It stops in front of the Stanford Shopping Center on El Camino. Marguerite's A-Line connects there. This line runs 7 days a week from 6 a.m. - 11:30 p.m.
- Route 390 makes all stops up El Camino to the Daly City BART from the Palo Alto Caltrain station.
- Route 280 and Route 281 both provide service to East Palo Alto from the Palo Alto Caltrain station and all its Marguerite lines.
- Route 295 runs from the Menlo Park Caltrain station to the San Mateo Caltrain station.

Santa Clara Valley Transportation Agency
VTA buses connect the Palo Alto train station (and the Marguerite shuttle service) to Santa Clara County (south of campus). VTA also provides light rail service in the South Bay.
- Line 22 makes all stops along El Camino South to San Jose. It runs 24 hours a day and arrives about every 10 minutes midday.
- Line 35 goes from Mountain View neighborhoods to the Medical Center and Stanford Shopping Center.

From Local AirportsStanford is roughly equidistant from the San Jose International Airport (SJC) and the San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The Oakland International Airport (OAK) is also in the area, but farther from campus.

SamTrans Route KX might be the cheapest way to get to and from the San Francisco airport. That bus stops in front of the Stanford Shopping Center on El Camino Real. The Stanford Marguerite shuttle connects there. Caltrain and BART connect at the Millbrae station and for an additional fee, there are BART trains that run directly to the airport.
A number of private companies also provide shuttle transportation from the San Jose and San Francisco airports, and taxis serve the Stanford campus from both locations.
